Man I haven't written in forever, and not because I haven't wanted to, because I've been so freaking busy that I haven't had a chance to read on the pisser, let alone blog. Life is stressful right now. Classes have started, I'm still working at my worthless job, and I'm moving (!!!). Moving is exciting, but only after all the packing, loading, driving, and unpacking is done and I'm not even done with the first of the four.
I'm taking three of my last four classes at the Muskegon campus this semester. They are all senior design classes and they are all a lot of freaking work. Somehow this semester I am feeling very inadequate. Although I am by far the best dressed in the class (you would think design majors would care a little about fashion, not so devoted readers, not so), but I am far from the most talented and frankly irks me. I hate not being the best, or even close to the best and since I have worked in the field for more than four years, while most of these students haven't at all, you would think I would have a heads up. I would fix this by spending more time on my rendering techniques and 3D modeling skills, but I just don't have any freaking time!! Anyhoo I move soon and after that I'll have lots more time to blog and become the best design student this Muskegon campus has ever seen! Either that or I'll have to start dressing really obnoxiously gaudy and call it a semester.

Good luck with school and moving! I'm sure you already ARE the best designer in class, even if it doesn't seem like it to you. Think of it this way: you can do with no time what all the other students can do with nothing BUT time.
ReplyDeleteDon't get down about design school! Just remember... you may not be the best (but that's subjective really) but it doesn't mean you're not damn good. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's hard not to get caught up in the competition. While you may not be the best at your school you have something completely unique to offer that no one else does!
